<p><a name="index-g_t_0040code_007bshort_007d-directive-460"></a><code>.short</code> is normally the same as ‘<samp><span class="samp">.word</span></samp>’.

<p>In some configurations, however, <code>.short</code> and <code>.word</code> generate
